What Are Column Headings in WinSetView?
When you use Details view in File Explorer, you see columns across the top — Name, Date Modified, Type, Size, and possibly others. WinSetView lets you choose exactly which columns appear, in what order, and with what width — per folder type. This is significantly more powerful than Windows' built-in per-folder column customization.
Accessing Column Settings in WinSetView
After selecting Details view for a folder type (or globally), a Columns button appears next to that row in the WinSetView interface. Click it to open the column configuration panel for that folder type.
Available Columns
WinSetView exposes the most commonly used File Explorer columns:
- Name — file or folder name (always shown)
- Date Modified — last modification date and time
- Date Created — creation date and time
- Type — file type description
- Size — file size in KB, MB, or GB
- Attributes — hidden, read-only, system flags
- Authors / Tags — for documents and media files
Setting Column Order and Width
In the column panel, you can drag columns to reorder them and set a pixel width for each. Most users prefer Name wide, then Date Modified, then Size, then Type — but WinSetView lets you set whatever works best for your workflow.
Applying Different Columns Per Folder Type
You can configure completely different column sets for different folder types. For example — for Documents you might want Name, Date Modified, Size, Type. For Music you might want Name, Artists, Album, Length. Uncheck Inherit for each folder type and configure columns independently.
